    Purpose: This dataset was prepared as a result of a joint funded agreement (JFA) between the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center III (NGTOC III) of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).     Attribute_Accuracy_Report: 100% of all railroad features were assigned a value for all attributes associated with it.  Based on the data sources of information, and the processing methods and procedures used to capture railroad features, attribute correctness for most attribute fields is believed to be over 98% correct as of May 1, 2006.
  Logical_Consistency_Report: All duplicate lines in the dataset were removed using an ArcInfo topological check rule.
  Completeness_Report:
    Over 99% of all railroad features that could be interpreted from source imagery or discovered during field verification were captured based on the presence of rails or railroad ties.  

    Because railroad features were captured using a monoscopic process, no "old railroad grade" features without visible rails or ties were collected or revised without supporting evidence.

        All railroad vectors were captured at a zoom scale of between 1:300 and 1:1000 to ensure a positional accuracy of well within 7.6 meters (25 feet) of its horizontal position within the source imagery used, which is also believed to be within 7.6 meters (25 feet) of its true horizontal position on the ground.  This is the same horizontal accuracy requirement for producing a U.S. Census Bureau Second Edition TIGER/Line transportation files.

        Some above-ground railroad centerlines will appear to be offset when displayed over the orthoimage (particularly on bridges), which is attributed to horizontal distortion of the image due to the feature's height above ground level.

      Process_Description:
        1:24,000-scale Digital Line Graph-3 railroad files previously collected from seventeen USGS quadrangles were first mosaicked together to create a base vector file for the entire project area.  Both new and existing railroad features were then captured/revised using ArcMap 9.0 and horizontally positioned using 2004 Oklahoma County 1-ft resolution color ortho coverage at a working scale of between 1:300 and 1:1000.  For those portions of the project area not covered by the Oklahoma County ortho coverage, 2002 USGS 1-ft resolution color ortho coverage was substituted as source.  There were no area or point railroad features collected for this dataset, only line features.  After collection/revision, selected groupings of railroad sidings were verified in the field by Mr. Neil R. Simpanen, an FAA employee and a The National Map volunteer, during the period November 15, 2005, and March 1, 2006.  Field verification findings were returned to USGS for final dataset adjustment.

        Railroad features attributes were formatted to facilitate dataset migration to USGS's The National Map Best Practices Foundation Dataset for Transportation.  Attributes were assigned using the following sources of information: (1) monoscopic interpretation of the source ortho imagery; (2) USGS 24K topographic maps; (3) various railroad company and State of Oklahoma websites; (4) the Oklahoma Department of Transportation publication "Oklahoma Railroad Map 2005;" and (5) field verification findings.
