      The following statements are made regarding attribute accuracy:

      1. Every road feature was assigned a value for the following attributes: Census Feature Class Code, Locality, Revision Source, Road Classification, Full Name & Feature Name, Source, Security, State/County FIPSCODES, and Distribution policy.  

      2. Except for the Oklahoma City portion of the project area, road attributes were revised using the most current available high resolution ortho imagery, which was either 2004 OKCo 1-ft color ortho coverge, or 2002 USGS 1-ft color ortho coverage.  Data provided by Oklahoma City did not require revision because the data was more current (2005) than the most current ortho coverage available.  

      3. Attribute accuracy varies considerably, with Revision Source and Source attribute accuracy exceeding 99% correct, whereas Census Feature Class Code, Locality, Full Name & Feature Name, and Road Classification attribute accuracies fall between 85% to 98% correct. The attribute accuracies are based on: (a) presumed accuracies of data provided by various municipalities; (b) monoscopic (versus stereo) interpretation and capture from ortho imagery; (c) comparison of road features with those shown on ancillary published sources, and with maps obtained from various state, county, and city websites; and (d) limited field verification resources.  

      Attributes such as "Number of Lanes", "Whether Road Segment is One Way", and "One Way Direction" were applied only when a road feature was captured or revised, or when image evidence provided a reasonable certainty.

      4. Due to limited field verification resources, no attempt was made to establish or re-establish street addressing or zip code information for new or revised road features beyond that already contained in datasets provided by partnering municipalities.
  Logical_Consistency_Report: Duplicate lines in the dataset were removed using an ArcInfo topological check rule.
  Completeness_Report:
    For the project area other than that occupied by Oklahoma City, over 98% of all publicly-maintained roads that could be interpreted from source imagery were captured or revised. "Publicly-maintained" roads are roads maintained by some level of government, such as U.S., state, county, city, or municipality.  In addition to publicly-maintained roads, roads associated with the following features were frequently collected, whether public or private, to augment the overall public road network: airports, mobile home parks, apartment complexes, parks & recreation areas, schools, fire/police stations, cemeteries, public & quasi-public utilities, walking trails & bikepaths, and alleys.

    For the Oklahoma City portion of the project, very little road feature capture or revision was performed because the currentness of the provided data (2005) exceeded the currentness of the available ortho imagery.

        All road vector centerlines were captured or revised at a zoom scale of between 1:500 and 1:1500 to ensure a horizontal positional accuracy of well within 7.6 meters (25 feet) of its true horizontal position within the one foot resolution source imagery used, which is also believed to be within 7.6 meters (25 feet) of its true horizontal position on the ground.  This is the same horizontal accuracy requirement for producing a U.S. Census Bureau Second Edition TIGER/Line transportation file.

        Some above-ground road centerlines (e.g., road over a bridge) will appear to be offset when displayed over the ortho image, which is attributed to horizontal distortion of the image due to the feature's height above ground level.

      Process_Description:
        A locally-produced vector road dataset was obtained for Oklahoma County, Oklahoma City, City of Moore, and City of Norman. The four datasets were then merged together after each dataset's attribute scheme had been made conformal with each other.  

        The roads for the entire project area, except for that portion covered by Oklahoma City, were then revised using Oklahoma County high resolution 1-ft color ortho imagery at a working scale of 1:500 to 1:1500 in order to achieve a horizontal position accuracy standard of 7.6 meters (25 feet).  For those portions of the project area not covered by the Oklahoma County ortho coverage, 2002 USGS high resolution 1-ft color ortho imagery was substituted as revision source. No point or area road features were captured for this dataset, only line road features.

        Following capture/revision, many roads with "FULL_NAME" attributed with "Unknown" were plotted and forwarded for investigation in the field by Mr. Neil R. Simpanen, an FAA employee and a The National Map volunteer, during the period January through May, 2006.  Field investigation findings were returned and incorporated into the final dataset version dated June 5, 2006.

For all remaining areas of the project, the "2002 USGS 1-ft color ortho" source was used. 

            There was little revision performed by the author on the Oklahoma City portion of the project area because the provided data exceeded the currentness of the ortho coverage.
